Cheesy Baked Ziti

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped basil

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and cook the ziti until just shy of al dente. Drain.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a pan and cook the onion for 4 minutes, then add the garlic for 30 seconds. Stir in the marinara and simmer 5 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, mix the ricotta, egg, parmesan, and half the basil.
  4. Toss the drained pasta with the marinara sauce.
  5. Layer half the pasta in a baking dish, dollop with the ricotta mixture, then top with the rest of the pasta and all the mozzarella.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden. Top with basil and serve.
